Arizona State University’s First Visit to the Baltic States - February 2025

Cormack Consultancy Group was delighted to organise a first visit of Arizona State University to the Baltic states as part of their European engagement work. Prof. Matthew Hulver, VP of Knowledge Enterprise Initiatives, ASU Knowledge Enterprise, and Prof. Brian MacCraith, Senior Advisor to the President of ASU, joined the visit to Lithuania and Latvia on 3-6 February 2025.

The ASU delegation met with leading universities in Vilnius (Vilniaus universitetas / Vilnius University, VILNIUS TECH - Vilnius Gediminas Technical University, Center for Physical Sciences and Technology (FTMC)), Kaunas (Kaunas University of Technology, Lithuanian University of Health Sciences, Vytauto Didžiojo universitetas) and Riga (University of Latvia (Latvijas Universitāte), Rīga Stradiņš University, Transport and Telecommunication Institute (TSI) and Rīgas Tehniskā universitāte (Riga Technical University) as well as other important stakeholders such as the Lithuanian Ministry of Economy and Innovation, the National Research Councils of both countries, the main R&D funding bodies.

During the visit, the conversations of the ASU representatives with key figures from Lithuanian and Latvian institutions centered around joint research and training in fields such as semiconductors, sustainable energy, water science and technology, med tech and other fields. A number of concrete ideas were discussed with a view to developing projects and joint applications for Horizon Europe or other funding opportunities.
