Collaborizer

What is Collaborizer?

International partnerships have never been more important to universities’ long-term success. As institutions navigate financial pressures, shifting student recruitment patterns and growing ambitions around research, Transnational Education (TNE) and global engagement, identifying the right partners has become an increasingly strategic decision, yet many still rely on manual research, existing networks and institutional reputation rather than structured evidence of where collaboration is most likely to succeed.

For more than 25 years, Cormack Consultancy Group (CCG) has worked alongside universities worldwide on international strategy, TNE, research collaboration and global partnership development. Throughout that work, one challenge has remained constant: how can universities identify the partners with the greatestlong-term strategic potential before committing significant time and resources?

Collaborizer is CCG’s partnership intelligence platform, built to answer that question, combining open-source research intelligence, structured analysis and expert human validation to help universities identify, assess and prioritise partnership opportunities with evidence rather than assumption, through services like the University Partner Scan and Market Scan.

Why Collaborizer?

Every partnership commits institutional time, resource and reputation. Yet the information underpinning that commitment is usually fragmented, gathered manually and hard to compare across institutions. Collaborizer draws on multiple sources of research intelligence and applies CCG’s analytical methodology to build a picture of institutional complementarity and long-term potential. The result is a shared evidence base that International Offices, Research Offices and senior leadership can work from together.

It enables universities to:

  • Identify complementarity beyond rankings, reputation and existing relationships.

  • Reveal Research Bridges between researchers, departments and strategic research themes.

  • Assess individual universities or entire national systems using one consistent framework.

  • Reduce months of desk research to structured intelligence delivered in days.

Partner identification has traditionally meant manual desk research, publication searches and internal discussion, with rankings and reputation standing in for a fuller picture. Collaborizer offers structured complementarity analysis, mapped Research Bridges and clear priorities for engagement — reviewed by CCG specialists before it reaches you.

Collaborizer enhances institutional expertise and judgement rather than replacing it — helping universities invest their resources where long-term value is most likely.

How it works

Collaborizer analyses institutional research strategies, researcher profiles, research outputs, competitive funding, institutional priorities and rankings, drawing on sources such as OpenAlex and CORDIS. This evidence is analysed through CCG’s structured methodology to surface complementarity and Research Bridges, and every assessment is reviewed by CCG’s partnership specialists — pairing technology with expert human validation.

The result is structured, evidence-based partnership intelligence that universities can use with confidence.

What universities receive

Each assessment provides universities with:

  • An assessment of overall partnership potential, supported by clear evidence and analysis.

  • Institutional complementarity analysis, identifying where two institutions’ strengths align.

  • Research Bridges between researchers, academic teams and priority research themes.

  • Potential collaborative funding opportunities aligned with institutional expertise.

  • Strategic recommendations and practical next steps to support partnership development.

  • An interactive Collaborizer Dashboard, enabling further exploration of the evidence and findings.

Whether the subject is an existing partner, a prospective collaboration or every institution in a given country, the assessment follows the same consistent framework.

Collaborizer services

I. University Partner Scan

An evidence-based assessment of the partnership potential between two universities. It evaluates institutional complementarity, identifies Research Bridges between researchers and academic teams, and highlights where collaboration has the greatest academic, strategic and commercial potential.

Universities typically use it to:

  • Assess prospective strategic partners.

  • Review and strengthen existing institutional partnerships.

  • Support Transnational Education (TNE) partnership development.

  • Identify collaborative research and funding opportunities.

  • Prepare senior leadership visits and partnership discussions.

II. Market Scan

An evidence-based assessment of partnership opportunities across an entire higher education system. Rather than examining a single institution, the Market Scan compares many using one consistent framework, so universities can identify priority partners and shape country strategy before significant resource is committed.

Universities typically use it to:

  • Enter new international markets.

  • Develop country engagement strategies.

  • Compare and prioritise prospective institutional partners.

  • Identify institutions across a market where research partnerships already exist.

  • Diversify international partnership portfolios.

  • Inform market planning and institutional investment decisions.

What makes Collaborizer different?

  • Built by international partnership specialists. Collaborizer comes out of 25 years of working alongside universities, and reflects the questions they ask every day — rather than simply making research data easier to access.

  • Technology enhanced by expert validation. Every assessment combines structured research intelligence with expert human validation from CCG’s international partnership specialists, ensuring that recommendations are grounded in both evidence and real-world experience.

  • Designed for partnership decisions, not data analysis. Collaborizer provides universities with practical partnership intelligence rather than simply presenting research data.
