Highlights from the Final Day of CCG’s Second International Twinning Conference - July 2024

Wrapping up our Second International Twinning conference series of posts, we would like to share highlights from our final day's afternoon sessions!
The afternoon was all about strengthening partnerships and boosting universities' resilience.

Oleksandr Smyrnov, Director of the Twinning initiative, provided an insightful overview of dual degree programmes. We're thrilled that already 10 university twins have had a chance to embark on this journey, with over 100 master's students enrolled this autumn!

The next session showcased incredible opportunities within Twinning, from FutureLearn campus initiatives to Mentorship scheme. Ukrainian students have also been presented with an exciting opportunity of receiving free virtual internships from Virtual Internships. To support further COIL endeavours, De Haagse Hogeschool / The Hague University of Applied Sciences with the financial support of Oxford International Education Group are generously offering second round of COIL training which will be open for both Ukrainian and British academics.

The conference culminated with a thought-provoking panel discussion on the role of institutions in Ukraine's reconstruction, brilliantly chaired by Vivienne Stern, the CEO of UUK, featuring esteemed speakers Mychailo Wynnyckyj, Deputy Minister for Education, Olga Budnyk, Plenipotentiary Advisor at the Fund of the President of Ukraine for the Support of Education, Science and Sport, Vasyl Hovhera, Principal & Agribusiness Adviser at European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, Richard Tomlins, Regional Director for UK and Europe at Coventry University, Dmytro Sherengovsky, Vice-Rector for Outreach and Social Engagement, at Ukrainian Catholic University, Yurii Danko, Vice-Rector for Scientific Work at Sumy National Agrarian University, and Anzhela Stashchak, Director for Projects at Cormack Consultancy Group.

In closing, Martin Cushing, Regional Manager for the UK Government’s Science and Innovation Network, expressed heartfelt gratitude to all participants for their unwavering support of the Twinning project.

A huge thank you to all who supports the Twinning Initiative! We look forward to seeing you all at our future events
